Other than the part about the grandmother not letting the bee-covered dog inside to escape the swarm, this is a pretty cool little story. The boy clearly cares deeply for his dog, whom he’ll always consider his hero.

Dogsters, do you think the puppy somehow knew the boy would react severely to the bees, or was she just a curious pup who got her nose (and ears, and paws) in the wrong place at the right time?

He is a male aged about 5 years old. Puppy is a friendly, loving, low maintenance dog who loves water. He is used to being around horses. Puppy will pull on the lead and so is walked on a Halti, but he is more used to being walked off the lead. His recall is good, although, when out, he rarely strays far from his owner anyway. Puppy is being very reluctantly rehomed due to a change in the owner’s circumstances.

A new study shows that if you’re blind and living in Washington, D.C., when you’re trying to hail a cab with your guide dog at your side, there’s a good chance empty cabs will pass you by.

The Equal Rights Center released a report yesterday saying that in half of its 30 tests, cab drivers passed by someone with a guide dog to pick up someone without a guide dog 100 feet away. You can see the sad results in the video above. According to the Washington Post, in three cases, drivers tried to add a surcharge for the guide dog.

It’s all completely against the law, and although blind people there have been complaining about this for years, there’s little they can do to prove their case. The report helps do that. (Read the full report here.) But now what? Shade is a 5 year old Rottweiler, who is micro chipped, vaccinated and will be spayed before going to her new home. Shades owner has had a change in circumstances and she’s currently being left for up to ten hours each day. Although she is not noisy or destructive, her owner would like her to be in a home where she will not be left for such long periods.

Shade is used to living with children, but due to her size we feel she would be better with children aged 8 plus, as she may unintentionally knock them over. She is not possessive over her toys or food, and is used to being an indoor, family dog. She loves being groomed and fussed, and is okay with cats though has not lived with one. She is not great with small furies. Shade is a pretty lazy, low maintenance dog who works well for food and adores fuss.

He is from Haven Dog Rescue but is currently being fostered and is absolutely brilliant. He’s a big friendly lad and loves people. We are seeing improvements in him and he’s just getting better and better everyday. His behavior with other dogs is a lot better than when he first came to us. He still gets very excited when the dogs are at a distance but when they approach him he is usually friendly towards them.

We have been going to dog walks which has also made an improvement. He has got great recall and is good off lead in secluded areas. Better with other dogs as he tends to stay with them. He is no bother in the house, is house trained and is quite happy to lie about all day but is also very playful. Oh he can open doors. I found this out when i was met at the bus stop by him on my way to work!
